I wanted to display my O gauge locomotives on a realistic looking end-to-end diorama. I had previously displayed them on shelves but wanted to elevate this up a level so it looked like a capture of a scene on a real railway. I loosely wanted this based on Wales, but it could be anywhere really - it was too look generic enough that I could put any locomotive on it and it not look out of place.

Update #1
Choosing the track
I needed to decide what track I was going to use for the diorama. Having looked at all the options and factoring in most of the track was going to be covered when displaying a locomotive, I opted for Peco’s O gauge flat bottom flexitrack.
I ended up using 2 pieces of flextrack, held in place with small dabs of super glue. I opted to not use fish plates and instead wire up both sets of track seperately, allowing for a small gap between the railhead for expansion.
